Kids have finally ruined the standard wired headsets that came with the factory fit DVD player.

Would like to replace them with infrared, but not sure how this works as most seem to need a seperate power supply - any suggestions would be great.

Otherwise, does anyone know where to get wired headsets with the 'long' cable on them - I can only find stanrd 1.2m lengths at the moment.

right,

If you want a 'cheap' set click here

if you want a 'alright set' click here

if you want a 'pro' set click here

or have a browse and decide for ones yourself click here

pay for them out of the kids pocket money!

as far as i know, if you want infra red, you have to power the transmitter.

You will need to provide a power supply to the transmitter and as your system is able to show two different sources on different screens you would possibly need two transmitters one for each screen and then head phones that can switch sources or it could get rather confusing!

Thanks for your help - in answer to your question about Sky/Freeview, yes, I get all the channels that are available thru' Freeview, which includes Sky News and oneof the Sky Sports channels (Eurosport I think).

I've got to ask. How did you get Freeview working eg equipment , arials etc.

I bought a tv tuner a while back and seperate powered arials but still havn't got round to installing them yet on my factory fitted DVD player system.

Freeview sounds a much better option.

thanks in advance.

Davetheref: In short, not sure, as the car stereo shop did it all. Originally, I only had the factory fit DVD system. To that I added a regular TV tuner (which includes a FM Modulator sot hat you can hear the sound thru' the car speakers). The aerial is nothing special and is stuck to one of the rear windows. As you will find with any regular TV tuner, reception is pretty poor at the best of times, and non existent on the move.

When I upgraded recently, I added a Pioneer DVD head unit with 6.5" screen and at the same time, removed the old TV Tuner and replaced it with the Freeview box, which is a normal Panasonic Freeview box (see Argos) that the stereo shop adapted. The result is far superior, good picture (most of the time) and also at slow speeds in traffic etc. plus of course all the extra channels.

So to answer the question, I don't know what is needed to adapt the freeview box for car use, but I do know that it worked out much much cheaper than buying a Freeview car tv tuner which seem to go for
